Helping Other People Eat

Be someone’s lifeline this Christmas by taking part in the nationwide Reverse Advent Calendar 2025 campaign!

Add one non-perishable food item each day from 1–24 December and by Christmas Eve you’ll have helped to create a food pack for a family facing hardship. There’s never been a better time to share kindness and hope.

Get your school, business, family and friends involved - and help us deliver H.O.P.E. this Christmas!

Visit the Foodbank this Christmas!

Saturday 20th December from 9am till 4pm

Bring your Reverse Advent Calendar collection and drop it off in person!

This Christmas, we’re opening our doors to everyone who’s been part of Delivering H.O.P.E. - and to anyone who wants to learn more about how Foodbank Lifeline helps people in need all year round.

Families, schools, businesses, community groups and friends are all invited to visit, meet our volunteers, learn about what we do and see how your kindness helps deliver H.O.P.E. — Helping Other People Eat. Come discover the impact of your generosity and share the spirit of giving together.

Got a question?

What is the RAC?

What is a Reverse Advent Calendar?

The Reverse Advent Calendar is a brilliant way of rethinking the traditional calendar full of treats and chocolates. It’s an opportunity to teach children and the community that giving something back can truly help people in need.

How it works:

*Just remember we sadly cannot accept expired foods or catering sized foods as we are not allowed by law to redistribute them. We also don’t currently have facilities to store fresh or frozen food.

And that’s it! Your generosity will help to feed people truly struggling to make ends meet. It’s simple but it’s such an important parcel to make sure people in desperate need don’t have to face the indignity of hunger.

Calling all Schools,

!

If you’re thinking of organizing a sizeable collection for Foodbank Lifeline, we can help you by delivering posters, stickers and boxes to your location. And if the donation is large, we can also organize collection.

Plus, if you’d like us to say a few words about Foodbank and the work we do, we’d be happy to pop by and give your teams a little introduction and explain where every penny is spent and where all our food goes.

If you’re looking for a little CSR and team building we also organize days for small groups to come to our stores in Marsa and help us sort and organize food by type/expiry date and then the building of the weekly packs.

Some important reminders:

  1. Please note we can’t legally accept expired food items to hand out. So please don’t donate them. It just causes more work for our volunteers.

  2. If the item has a short date, could you mark it with a sticky note? That would be really helpful so we can put aside for immediate distribution.

  3. Please remember we can’t accept fresh or frozen food or catering sized containers.

The Sponsors Who Make It Happen

Over the years we have been assisted with donations from some amazing people, families, schools and companies. But we wouldn’t be where we are now, without these fantastic brands that have truly helped us in every way. Whether it’s by running and paying for our campaigns and social channels, to making financial donations, supporting the Reverse Advent Calendar or donating food – these are the companies who are a part of us and to whom our team and our clients, will be forever grateful.

How do we select who really needs our help?

All Foodbank Lifeline clients are referred to us by social workers and other NGOs and charities.

Once we confirm this is a true case of hardship, we step in in the short-term by providing these individuals, families and couples with foodpacks for a period of 6 weeks, or longer if the case requires it. Our aim is to help people get back on their feet by providing a short-term solution until a longer plan can be found.

We are the only Foodbank in Malta which currently gives food directly to people in need.
